What it builds

NordSpace makes its own engines and vehicles - Taiga for suborbital flights and the larger Tundra for orbit - and is building the Atlantic Spaceport Complex at St. Lawrence, Newfoundland to fly them from.

Why it matters

Canada has no way to launch anything from its own soil. A working vehicle and a working launch site would mean not having to ask someone else.

Risks
  • ?Taiga has not flown. As of July 2026 the company said it was ready and waiting on a launch authorization it does not control.
  • ?It is largely self-financed, which limits how fast it can move and how much it can absorb if a vehicle is lost.
  • ?Small launch is crowded, and it has produced far more failed companies than successful ones.
