What it builds

Skydio's X10 flies and avoids obstacles on its own, and can sit in a dock that launches it with nobody there. Agencies use it to reach an incident before a patrol car does; utilities use it to inspect what they would otherwise climb.

Why it matters

Most small drones come from a single Chinese manufacturer. A US-built one matters to buyers who are not allowed to use those, and to anyone who cares where the hardware came from.

Risks
  • ?Selling to police and the military invites surveillance objections that can cost the company contracts and local approvals.
  • ?Its position against Chinese hardware rests partly on trade policy, which can change without warning.
  • ?Public-safety and utility budgets move slowly and politically, and one agency's decision can swing a year.
